HEY

I AM
BECKY OAKLAND

I am a Beeston-based self-employed musician with over 17 years’ experience teaching in local primary and junior schools, specialising in music and singing for most of my career. Music has always been central to my life. I began learning piano at the age of seven and progressed to Grade 8, also studying clarinet and even a bit of busking on saxophone, alongside various other instruments along the way – flute, percussion, ukulele and more! I’m passionate about teaching and sharing the gift of music with others wherever possible and watching people of all ages grow in confidence and enthusiasm. The positive impact that singing in particular has on mental health and wellbeing is something I witness every day in my work.

I have a lot of experience in leading workshops at large and small events, including guest leading sessions for other choirs, with groups ranging in size from 12 to 200! I am happy and confident leading others and would love to hear from you if you’re interested in putting on a one-off singing/musical event or would like me to come and lead a workshop at an existing event, or perhaps try something different at your well-established choir! I’m very versatile and love being creative and giving new things a try too, so please do get in touch if you’d like me to be involved in your next project!

Becky moved the session along with her musical skill and with real pace. I’d definitely like to attend another of her workshops. – Choir workshop attendee

I think it’s a fab group! Love the variety of songs and great that each session is stand alone so you don’t miss anything if you can’t go every time. It’s pitched really well for all abilities. This is the first time that I have attended a singing group. Thank you! ☺️  - Just Sing Beeston member.

Excellent evening exploring two very different styles of music.
