I set up Beeston Voices in 2011 after a suggestion from the Headteacher at the school I was working at, who suggested I might enjoy leading some adult singing alongside my job as a primary teacher.

It began as a small group of around 12 people who simply enjoyed singing in harmony. It has since grown into a thriving choir of around 100 members and is a friendly, community choir open to anyone over 18 who loves to sing—or just wants to give it a try! With no auditions, no need to read music, and a relaxed, inclusive approach, the focus is all about having fun, unwinding, and enjoying the uplifting experience of singing together. We’re well renowned locally, performing at events throughout the year including Oxjam, our own Christmas and Summer concerts, and the two ‘Beeston Big Sings’ we’ve proudly hosted. Being part of the choir is as social as it is musical—members often enjoy weekly post-rehearsal drinks at 'The Crown' and two big social gatherings each year. Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings, and although we have a waiting list to join, many find it well worth the wait to become part of this welcoming, vibrant choir at the heart of our community.
